The manufacturing industry is a critical pillar of the global economy, driving technological advancements, economic growth, and employment. However, this sector faces significant challenges in addressing its manpower needs, both in India and internationally. These challenges are multifaceted, encompassing skill gaps, demographic shifts, technological disruptions, and more. Here’s an in-depth look at the manpower challenges in the manufacturing industry.
Skill Gaps and Training Needs
One of the foremost challenges in the manufacturing sector is the widening skill gap. As manufacturing processes become more advanced, the demand for a highly skilled workforce has increased. In India, despite a large labor force, there is a significant shortage of skilled workers who are proficient in modern manufacturing techniques and technologies such as automation, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
Internationally, countries like the United States and Germany also face similar issues.

Not Salman Khan’: Shahid Kapoor says he did not take a dig at superstar while talking about actors’ attitude issues
Shahid Kapoor, who has been actively promoting his upcoming film Deva, recently took a dig at some superstars who walk in with a lot of attitude and make others feel like their presence must be acknowledged. Netizens somehow felt that this dig was directed at Salman Khan but Shahid has now clarified that he “did not even think” about it and would never say anything this disrespectful about Salman.
While talking to Hindustan Times, he was asked if his comments were directed towards Salman and Shahid immediately gestured ‘no’. Shahid shared that other people had also texted him wondering the same thing and said, “A few people texted me asking about the same thing. I was just talking, I didn’t even think much about it. If I want to take a dig, it will never be at somebody who is so senior and so established, and who I have so much respect for. So just to clear that out once and for all,” he said.

A united NDA: Good news for BJP to see Waqf Bill through
All NDA allies - BJP, JDU, TDP and LJP (Ram Vilas) - seemed to be on the same page on the Waqf Bill and voted in favour of the amendments.
After the amendments to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill proposed by NDA members were approved by the Joint Committee of Parliament on Monday (January 27), the BJP may feel more confident of seeing the Bill through in the House when it is tabled.
The reason for this is that the meeting on Monday saw a united NDA. Allies JD(U) and TDP members were among those who proposed some of the amendments, and the voting saw a JDU, TDP and LJP (Ram Vilas) all favouring the amendments – a signal that the parties are in favour of the Bill in the revised form after the amendments.
